It is the same Title field you see in SharePoint Document Library! So if you happen to fill it out here, once uploaded to a document library, it will be populated for you. On the right side, under properties, you will see the Title field. To understand what I am talking about, open Word, Excel or PowerPoint document and open an Info Tab. By filling it out, you are providing additional text and keywords that are searchable by SharePoint search. When it comes to the document libraries, the Title field can be auto-populated if it is already filled out at the document level. Not really, but like with any metadata, it might help you find the content. By default, it is optional in document libraries and mandatory for SharePoint lists. ![]() It is another piece of metadata that exists in both lists and libraries. So what is this Title field, and do we need one? I will try to demystify it with his post. Most of the time it is ignored, as you already have a file name. You upload a document to a document library, and there is a field called Title, that you can type the text into. ![]() I am sure you saw this appear and wondered what it is for.
